Servo Skull Tape Measure - Painted

I bought the Servo Skull tape measure last weekend. It looked alright in its silver and red but I saw potential for it to look so much better. So I painted it. Didn't take long but I did need a few coats of bleached bone to begin with to get a nice even colour to start from.

  2. Wow, would of never thought of that, really amazing paint job too. I think I might just paint it myself after seeing this. May I ask how you painted this? (Like paints, brushing techniques, etc)

    1. To paint the metal bits I just did boltgun metal, then cover it with devlan mud, the drybrush mithril silver.

For the bone I did a basecoat of bleached bone, then cover it with devlan mud, then drybrush lots with bleached bone, then a lighter drybrushing on the highlights of bleached bone/white mix.

The brass bits were painted with brazen brass (old gw paint) then devlan mud, then drybrush the edges with brazen brass/mithril silver mix.

  5. Thats awesome,
Now why couldn't GW just have produced it like that in the first place, instead of the tacky looking rubbish they seem to have come up with?
